OMG, I just went to the Made It website yesterday morning and saw all the Blue & lovely Green handmade creations, I thought, 'Beautiful', Love those colours together!
But, I did not see my bunting, silly me.
I was too busy looking at the other lovely handmade creations & simply admiring the 'sea' of blue & green on front page.
It was only when I saw the Made It FB page that I saw my bunting, a wonderful surprise.

My husband surprised me on Tuesday night, Valentines Day with a beautiful bunch of flowers & dinner at the local Thai restaurant, it was quite a surprise as we have not gone out to dinner for Valentine's since we had our two girls, he even organised my mother to babysit while we had dinner.

I love to upcycle and give a new life to something that had an intended previous use.

What a delight!
Yesterday we had a lovely morning!
We had a relaxing time at the Melbourne Oobi Tea Party in Fitzroy.
Warm weather, a great playground & fun things to eat - a lovely morning had by all!

It was cute to see all the other little 'Oobi's' dressed up in their favourite Oobi clothing and having a great time!
My daughter loved the marshmallow 'pop' (basically marshmallows on a stick with a cute bow at the bottom of the last marshmallow). A great but simple party idea!
We LOVE Oobi!!!

The images of my stall that are used in this TMR post were from the very first market stall I did back in August last year. I have made a few small changes to my stall layout since then.

Last year I managed to do a market a month at a number of different markets around Melbourne. December I did three, I certainly was exhausted!
But it's always fun meeting other stallholders & visitors/buyers at the markets.

Today is Melbourne Cup Day! Yes, that famous house race that stops the nation - well... only for a few minutes and for those of us living in the Melbourne metro area, we get a public holiday, Yay!
Having been to The Melbourne Cup a few times, I love the race, the glamour (those beautiful race hats) and the stunning mass of roses planted around track side.

Here is my daughter loving her new tee 'Little Red Riding Hood'
This was a prize I won from {KID} independent and made by Sugar Plum Tree.
It's lovely, just too cute!

Sugar Plum Tree allowed me to choose a design/colour of tee and were able to customize it with my daughter's name (but I chose not to), but I did choose the colour of Red Riding Hood's hair & eyes to be similar to my girl.

Sugar Plum Tree handmade designs such as their tees & dresses are very sweet and certainly worth a look.

What a delight!
I've been following 'the ramblings of Dottie Angel' blog for quite some time now and I was delighted to find out late last month that she now has a book.
I HAD to have it!

If you love her blog then you are likely to enjoy her book.

I purchase mine through Lark here in Australia but you can buy directly from Dottie Angel's ETSY store page. It's published by Uppercase.

For me, this is an inspirational book, she is creative, crafty, clever. I love the way she upcycles everything & breathes new life into something old.

I understand her fetish for vintage fabrics and how things such as fabric just seem to follow her home!

This happens to me a lot too ;)

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to be a stall holder.
As a stall holder I just wanted to share some of my tips for a successful craft market.
I have only been doing this for a short time but long enough to know what is essential to take to a market.

What to take to a market..... Market tips for stall holders.

Business cards

White table cloth,

Cash float of $100
in change and carry it on you if possible - I recommend an over the shoulder satchel.

Table/s

Fold up Chair

Clothes Rack - if required.

Notebook & pen to write down sales, etc

Emergency pack - panadol/headache tablets, etc, water, snacks, blue tac, pins for your tablecloth (& banner), calculator, sticky tape, scissors, tissues etc.

Make sure Prices are clearly displayed for every item.

Props - baskets, boxes for display.

Carry bags for Buyers.

Tent / umbrella - if required

Banner or signage/ advertising for your stall (take blue tac, pins or string for attachment)

STOCK - meaning all items you are wanting to sell.

A smile :)

Remember to get to your venue early to unload & set up for your stall, sometimes customers arrive early.

Store all boxes, bags under your table & out of sight.

Recently I sold a pretty pastel Fabric Bunting to a lovely buyer in the USA.

It was only when it arrived that I found out that it was going to be used as decoration at her own wedding!
I was so pleased & so was Cheryl when it arrived. It was mentioned a pic may be sent to me after the big event. Well..... here it is!!!!!!

I'm thrilled to see it. The happy couple looks gorgeous! And the bunting looks rather good too :)

A big thank you to Cheryl, I LOVE this pic, it certainly put a smile on my face.

I just recently listed SMURFS Fabric Bunting!

These sets of flags listed are a lovely combination of Preloved Smurf retro upcycled fabric, Red/White polka dot, Plain Blue Fabric, etc.

When I saw this Smurf fabric I just knew it was going to make wonderful flag bunting.
Whilst I have created a number of sets of these, they are all OOAK, that is One Of A Kind as no two buntings are the same and I only made a limited number of sets due to having only one piece of fabric. I hope you like them!

Total length is Two and a half metres (2.5m) / about 8.4 feet approx.

I've always loved Golden Books & other vintage books as a child. Some of my favourite children's books are from way back then. I now get to relive some of those memories & magic now that my little girl loves stories to be read to her.

Golden Books are beautifully illustrated with charming little stories with a moral or educational purpose. Since the first Little Golden Books in 1942, there have been over 600 original titles published, not counting the 140+ Disney titles, etc. Many of the original titles are still available today, having passed through several editions and innumerable printings. Rare titles in good condition become collectors items.

I've been gathering Golden Books & other vintage children's books for quite some time now and the ones not in good condition have now made it into a range of Upcycled Handmade Sewn Greeting Cards.

I'll have a range of these greeting cards at the markets I'll be attending & are now online in store on Made It & Etsy.

Retro Vintage Upcycled Handmade Sewn Greeting Cards from book illustrations.

Ideal use as: Birthday Card, Thank-You Card, Thinking Of You Card, etc
All images are original prints from actual vintage children’s books. I never use copies
All images rescued from old 'no longer' used books, all have been upcycled and they are sewn on to the card which adds to the charm of these lovely cards.
These cards are so sweet. They would be enjoyed by the young & us nostalgic older folk!

Each card is made from recycled brown kraft and is blank inside for your own message, it comes with a plain white envelope.
Cards Size (when folded): A6, 105mm x 147mm (or 4.2 x 5.8 inches approx)
All cards are back stamped with my contact details on the lower back of the card.

'Get Creative Quarterly' Magazine is a free magazine published by Spotlight.

Most Australians that craft, sew, decorate, etc, etc would know Spotlight is the place to buy all those crafting items required for that special handmade project you have in mind.

I'm quite a regular there and rarely ever leave with just one item! You can count on me being there if there is a big fabric sale!

The current issue (number 4) is out on the stores at the moment. It's FREE to those that have a Spotlight VIP card (yes, membership is free & you can sign up on the day).

Whenever it hits the store you need to be quick to get your latest copy, they go fast!

As the website states 'Get Creative Quarterly magazine is a wonderful celebration of all that is great about craft and creativity and we hope it inspires, informs and entertains you for months to come.'

It contains many projects, loads of information on products and trends, ideas for home decorating, crafting, sewing and more and includes lots of interviews with creative people from around the world.

Metro Retro Tea Towel Aprons recently listed on Etsy

I recently listed some more Metro Retro Aprons on Etsy.
Well.... it's the first time I have listed my aprons on Etsy.
As usual a varied mix of styles & colours, I'm quite pleased with them!

As always many of the tea towels are sourced from overseas, usually the USA or the UK and often bought individually.
I prefer to use quilters quality cotton fabric for the side panels & straps and love to use vintage cotton fabric where I can, it adds to the individuality of the apron and makes this one of a kind (OOAK) apron rather special.

I enjoy making these, they are very time consuming to make but I love the challenge of combining of tea towel styles, with interesting patterns & colours of my cotton fabrics.

I Just have to mention the tv series Made By Hand.
It's a great feature doco on handmade crafters in Melbourne. Or as the website states 'Made by Hand is a new, documentary style, television series that showcases the world of beautiful and unique handcrafted works made by the crafts people of Melbourne.'
It's a half hour show (well, actually a bit less) - I wish it was longer!
This series started in late June, next week is the 8th episode (10 episodes in the series).
If you have missed any of the series, you can download the episodes from the Made By Hand website.

Last year I managed to do a market a month at a number of different markets around Melbourne. December I did three, I certainly was exhausted!
But it's always fun meeting other stallholders & visitors/buyers at the markets.
